Award Season, aka “Busy Season”

It’s that time of the year folks! Freshen up those gardens and prepare for our Annual Beautification Award Show. This will be the 34th year celebrating our Central Coast Beautifications and what a year it will be! With so much change and new design trends in our industry, I hope you are as excited as I am to see what our membership contractors have been working on these past twelve months. This year the event will be held at the Dream Inn in Santa Cruz. The iconic views just out of the banquet room are a perfect setting for the event; with one side showcasing the world-famous Steamer’s Lane surf break and on the other, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The evening will feature a live band, great food and of course the awards ceremony. (We also have a very special MC booked for this event that will make this night one to remember!) Be sure to sign up early to secure your spot at the banquet.  Bring your family, bring your employees, bring yourself and come enjoy the festivities of another great year of landscaping on the Central Coast!

The Central Coast board is one of the best groups of people I’ve had the pleasure to work with. Everyone is supportive, positive and energetic. I am learning new things, coming up with new ideas and what I like most, is that I am giving back to an industry that has done so much for me and my family. I encourage everyone who’s thinking about getting more involved to come to a board meeting and see how things work. I think you will be surprised how much fun you can have volunteering and contributing to something bigger than yourself. We are starting the search for 2020 board members here at the Central Coast chapter and we would love you to be a part of that! You don’t have to dive in, you can join a committee, head up a committee or just come to the board meetings as an interested member. If you would like to get more involved, shoot me a call, an email, or just drop by the K&D office. Let’s work together to make this chapter the best in the state!

To our success,
Justin White

But it’s better to be thoroughly sure.”

Central Coast Chapter’s 34th Annual
Beautification Awards

June 21, 2019 –
Dream Inn, Santa Cruz, CA

This is the biggest and one of the most fun events of the Central Coast CLCA. The venue could not be more perfect, from the window of the Dream Inn you can see the Monterey Bay, the Santa Cruz Mountains, the beach, palm trees and redwoods all at the same time. This year is bound to be a great one, starting out with a live band and cocktails. “Apple City Slough” is a Santa Cruz Mountain jam band with rock and roll roots. They’ve appeared at the Redwood Mountain Faire and on KPIG radio. Bring your dancing shoes and get ready to boogie! A delicious buffet dinner will follow and then the main awards event. We will be recognizing and presenting awards for some of the best of local landscaping and design.

Register to attend this year’s Beautification Awards here.

Our Beautification Awards theme this year is “Honoring the Redwoods.”

“The redwoods, once seen, leave a mark or create a vision that stays with you always. No one has ever successfully painted or photographed a redwood tree. The feeling they produce is not transferable. From them comes silence and awe. It’s not only their unbelievable stature, nor the color which seems to shift and vary under your eyes, no, they are not like any trees we know, they are ambassadors from another time.” –– As John Steinbeck, Travels with Charley: In Search of America

Coast redwoods are some of the tallest trees on the planet. Redwoods are magnificent trees. With gratitude we choose to honor redwoods tonight and celebrate the beauty of this local tree and the magic that they bring.

Thank you to our fellow Redwood lovers in New Zealand for the generous use of their photo on our invitation and program this year: Redwoods Nightlights, Rotorua, New Zealand. Please visit the “Redwoods Treewalk” website and see more photos at www.treewalk.co.nz/en_US/

“Redwoods represent the original face of nature, embodying a beauty millions of years in the making. These forests store more carbon from the atmosphere than any other forest ecosystem, and they support communities of life found nowhere else on Earth.”from Save the Redwoods League.
