Message from the President

News updates from the Board—April-June 2026

Hello Central Coast CLCA Members and Friends,

Well, it seems like Winter was just here just yesterday and now we are looking at Spring and Summer right in our faces. Along with moving our clocks ahead, and longer warmer days, guess what? Everything is growing like crazy! Let the Games begin. Well for us it has already started.

Coming up April 25th, you won’t want to miss it, a private tour of Los Arroyos Nursery. Manuel is going to give us a tour of the facility and show off some rare and unique plants, finishing up the day with drinks and BBQ. Friends and family welcome. Thank you Jason Bailey for setting this up. More info scroll back to our calendar listings.

Central Coast Chapter is looking forward to our popular Golf Event and BBQ. Details coming soon via eblasts for each of those events. We are looking forward to seeing everyone there!

CLCA SFBA is looking for judges for the achievement awards. Is anyone interested? They are currently in need of two additional judges. The judging will take place on May 12th, 13th, and 14th. Would you be interested and available during those dates? If so contact Jackie Marsey, CLCA SFBA President. jackie@paradiselg.com or 408-691-9358.

And finally, be looking for a questionnaire coming your way soon. We’re wanting your input on what events you would like us to host, especially want to hear what “educational” events you’d like to attend. Coming soon: Events Eblast/Questionnaire!

Thank You,
Your Board President Scott Long

Central Coast Chapter Partners for Success Program

Lots of great reasons to join the Central Coast Chapter of the CLCA. Supplier’s Night is a favorite event every year. Golf events, comradery, just a great group of folks!

Now is the time to RENEW YOUR PARTNERSHIP if you haven’t already! Central Coast’s Partners for Success Program provides an opportunity to increase your visibility in the community, to be seen as a leader in the green industry by helping sustain the many educational and enrichment offerings of our association.

2026 Partners For Success Program

Partners For Success Program is an annual subscription to the chapter's events that allows exposure of your company's products and services directly to our membership. This program allows members to select their level of participation in advance, saving time and paperwork. All members (C-27s, Associates and Affiliates) have the convenience of paying via credit card online or may send a check to: CLCA Central Coast Chapter, PO Box 67204, Scotts Valley, CA 96067. Membership is for the calendar year. It is best to renew subscription in January.

The 3 tiers of partnership, Oak (suppliers and C27 contractors), Redwood (suppliers and C27 contractors) and Maple (C27 contractors), provide levels of participation appropriate to the size of your company. Partners are the driving force of the chapter and, as such, are recognized at annual events and promoted on the chapter web site. The Partners For Success information sheet is available on request. Annual membership begins in January and ends at the end of December.

Thank you again for your support! Please follow the link below to sign up or get more info.

CLCA Central Coast Chapter’s Supplier’s & New Membership Night

Aloha Chapter Members! I write this hoping that you’re all enjoying the beautiful weather and with it the increased business. This time of year heralds the beginning of our season's busiest times, and what better way to kick off that time than our yearly Suppliers Night and Membership Mixer.

Our Associate Members put up tables and displayed their wares showing the newest and the best. They were happy to answer questions about products and services so that we could go armed into the new season with the information that we need, to meet our client’s needs for new and old products and services alike. We saw new types of pavers and retaining walls, tools, and Associate landscape and hardscape tools and products. We also saw various tree services and some truly beautiful plant offerings from our nursery partners.

It was a great time! New and old friends met and mingled, sharing experiences and going over past good times, and creating new ones as well. The taco bar was full (and quite tasty), and raffle prizes were given away, and everyone left with a smile.

Our chapter is seeing a rejuvenation and events like these show how strong we can be when we all get together and work towards the same goals. If you know any contractors or possible Associate Members, invite them to join us at the next event so that we can become stronger yet.

June Board Meeting

June 4, 2026
Location: Laughing Monk, Scotts Valley
12:00 p.m.: Welcome and Introductions
Recorded by Julia Zuckerman

Meeting called to order. Minutes from the last meeting approved.
○ Julia via Zoom and Reed gave his proxy to Scott.
○ Not enough for a quorum, but we discussed current and future business.

1) Scott reviewed the Golf Tournament at Delavuega Golf Course.
a) The event went well.
b) Lower attendance than expected (68-people).
c) The winning score was 58 for 2-teams. Playoff held and the final winning
group was Adam Crum, Matt Dodd, Mark Manely, & Sean Medina.
d) Closest to the hole was Rick Pistanna.
e) Overall the event was well received.
f) Scott will pick up signs from the golf course.
g) Per the treasurer, we broke even from the tournament.

2) Future golf tournament:
a) We will need to push the entry fee for the event to $140.00 per person
the chapter sponsors will still get their slot per year as per their membership).
b) The next tournament we want to sell closest to the hole, longest drive,
putting contest and the ability to set up a stand at their hole as ways to
extend donation opportunities for the chapter.
c) Bringing in food to the event for before or during the day and eliminating
dinner at the end of the event for a 30 minute award and thank you spot.
This was because there was not a great turn out for dinner at the recent event.
d) A committee will be put together for the planning of a second tournament in
September-October, to be headed by Scott and supported by Henry, Reed,
and Earl. A possible new location might be Cinnabar.

3) We are looking at ditching the constant contact means of email communication
for the Zeffi which we used for the Golf event with much better results.
a) It is cheaper and easier to use.
b) To also be used for any chapter event requiring email correspondence
(board meetings, holiday party, supplier night, BB event, etc…)

4) Looking at August or September for sumer chapter get together. Event committee and Scott working on it.

5) Recognizing Ki & Elise at holiday get together.

6) Treasurer report.
a) After the Golf tournament, the balance is $12,000.00. This is low.March Board Meeting
