Hello Central Coast CLCA Members and Friends,
Well, it seems like Winter was just here just yesterday and now we are looking at Spring and Summer right in our faces. Along with moving our clocks ahead, and longer warmer days, guess what? Everything is growing like crazy! Let the Games begin. Well for us it has already started.
Coming up April 25th, you won’t want to miss it, a private tour of Los Arroyos Nursery. Manuel is going to give us a tour of the facility and show off some rare and unique plants, finishing up the day with drinks and BBQ. Friends and family welcome. Thank you Jason Bailey for setting this up. More info scroll back to our calendar listings.
Central Coast Chapter is looking forward to our popular Golf Event and BBQ. Details coming soon via eblasts for each of those events. We are looking forward to seeing everyone there!
And finally, be looking for a questionnaire coming your way soon. We’re wanting your input on what events you would like us to host, especially want to hear what “educational” events you’d like to attend. Coming soon: Events Eblast/Questionnaire.
Thank You, Your Board President Scott Long

Teaming with Microbes
The Organic Gardener's Guide to the Soil Food Web
Book Recommendation by Earl Boyd, recommended to “many people about organic soils and how they work…”
Teaming with Microbes is a book that explains how to build healthy soil by nurturing the microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, etc.) that sustain plants, offering an alternative to chemical fertilizers. It details the “soil food web,” showing gardeners how to foster this underground ecosystem for vigorous plant growth, making it accessible to both organic and conventional gardeners who want to move away from toxic chemicals.
Key concepts
Soil food web:
The book focuses on the complex network of life in the soil, including earthworms, insects, bacteria, and fungi, which work together to feed plants.
Alternative to chemicals:
It presents a method for gardening that strengthens this natural system instead of damaging it with synthetic fertilizers and pesticides.
Accessible guide:
The text is written in a straightforward, easy-to-understand way for a broad audience, from dedicated organic gardeners to weekend hobbyists.
Benefits:
By understanding and supporting the soil's microbial life, gardeners can grow healthier, more resilient plants naturally.

Now is the time to RENEW YOUR PARTNERSHIP if you haven’t already! Central Coast’s Partners for Success Program provides an opportunity to increase your visibility in the community, to be seen as a leader in the green industry by helping sustain the many educational and enrichment offerings of our association.
2026 Partners For Success Program
Partners For Success Program is an annual subscription to the chapter's events that allows exposure of your company's products and services directly to our membership. This program allows members to select their level of participation in advance, saving time and paperwork. All members (C-27s, Associates and Affiliates) have the convenience of paying via credit card online or may send a check to: CLCA Central Coast Chapter, PO Box 67204, Scotts Valley, CA 96067. Membership is for the calendar year. It is best to renew subscription in January.
The 3 tiers of partnership, Oak (suppliers and C27 contractors), Redwood (suppliers and C27 contractors) and Maple (C27 contractors), provide levels of participation appropriate to the size of your company. Partners are the driving force of the chapter and, as such, are recognized at annual events and promoted on the chapter web site. The Partners For Success information sheet is available on request. Annual membership begins in January and ends at the end of December.

Aloha Chapter Members! I write this hoping that you’re all enjoying the beautiful weather and with it the increased business. This time of year heralds the beginning of our season's busiest times, and what better way to kick off that time than our yearly Suppliers Night and Membership Mixer.
Our Associate Members put up tables and displayed their wares showing the newest and the best. They were happy to answer questions about products and services so that we could go armed into the new season with the information that we need, to meet our client’s needs for new and old products and services alike. We saw new types of pavers and retaining walls, tools, and Associate landscape and hardscape tools and products. We also saw various tree services and some truly beautiful plant offerings from our nursery partners.
It was a great time! New and old friends met and mingled, sharing experiences and going over past good times, and creating new ones as well. The taco bar was full (and quite tasty), and raffle prizes were given away, and everyone left with a smile.
Our chapter is seeing a rejuvenation and events like these show how strong we can be when we all get together and work towards the same goals. If you know any contractors or possible Associate Members, invite them to join us at the next event so that we can become stronger yet.

The Ides of March are upon me as I write this! The recent, and might I add, the last NorCal Hardscaping & Landscaping Show was well attended by both attendees and vendors. While not as large as past events, the core was strong, providing a lot of really good industry information and showing old, as well as, new products being used and introduced in to the field this year. Before the event we held our monthly board meeting at NorCal to discuss business and keep the chapter together. Events like these are important for keeping up with industry that changes by an average of 43-47% every year.
Please remember to attend our local Central Coast Chapter events, like our recent Supplier’s Night. Here you can see some of the new items and specific industry support services available to us all. These events are also a time for our chapter members to share their experiences with their colleagues and associates. Knowledge makes us stronger, and so do numbers. See you at our next event!
These events are a great way to connect with your Central Coast Chapter friends and celebrate our friendships, even make some new contacts and friends, a win-win.
Thank you for your Partnership! Remember to renew for 2026!
